The name Palestinu is derived from Palestine, the ancestral homeland of a family displaced from the town of Hamama, in the Ashkelon district, north of the Gaza Strip. The structure of the name is inspired by multiple languages, making it accessible internationally while remaining deeply connected to its roots.
The chocolate bars carry the names of the four sisters:
Tasneem, Somaia, Sama, and Asmaa.
Sama is currently studying Intelligent Systems Engineering, and Somaia is studying Physics.
Each sister has a unique story that will be shared over time.
The idea was founded and developed by Ibrahim Tabaza, a Palestinian engineer from Gaza who currently lives in the United Kingdom. Ibrahim comes from a large Palestinian family of four sisters and three brothers, and he is the eldest among them. His family lives in Gaza and continues to face extremely difficult circumstances.
Last year, the family lost their daughter Tasneem, while two sisters and two brothers remain alive. This loss became a defining moment in the creation of the project.
The primary purpose of this brand is to support and sustain an entire Gazan family, helping them meet essential living needs, while sharing an authentic human story through a meaningful product.
The brand is symbolized by the Palestinian Sunbird, a national bird that represents resilience and belonging. The logo design process took approximately six months and involved designers from different nationalities. Its core concept and final artistic touch were developed by Egyptian designer and artist Ahmed ElSayed, with close attention to detail to ensure that the four colours and key elements express hope, Palestinian identity, and a deep connection to the land.
